Welcome to my 21st edition of a newsletter that has nothing to do with real estate, but everything to do with the foodie scene in New York City and beyond.

Dirt Candy
Where:  86 Allen St, New York, NY 10002 | Lower East Side

Hello and Happy New Year!

This month for my "One Michelin Star" cuisine of the month I decided to stay with my New Year resolution of being a little healthier and opted out for a Vegetarian outing on the Lower East Side.

Dirt Candy just received their first Michelin Star in 2022, but it doesn't mean they are new to the vegetarian fine dining scene. In fact, they had their successful vegetarian/vegan menu way before 11 Madison considered it a cool thing to do.

The dinner didn't disappoint - their new winter menu which embodies the concept of comfort food that coddles you, with a five-course tasting is just that. There are a lot of fun surprises, like the second course where they put Caviar on your Onion Pizza, and the fifth course which is a potato for dessert (The dish is potato Napoleon, with layer after layer of potato, and potato & chocolate malt ice cream, served with a potato brownie and topped with potato caramel).

So if you are looking for a fun dining experience that will have you leave the restaurant feeling good about the food you ate, regardless if you are a vegetarian or not, Dirt Candy is a place to visit.

A Tip to Remember: This is a non-tipping restaurant!

Sushi Maru
Where: 267 W 17th St, New York, NY 10011 | Chelsea

Ever had a sushi burrito? I can say I haven't, at least until recently, and it was one of the best lunch decisions I have made!

Sushi Maru is nestled in the Chelsea District of New York City, this hole-in-the-wall restaurant serves up some of the best sushi burritos you'll ever taste. The spot may be small and unassuming, but the flavors are anything but. The sushi burritos are made with the freshest ingredients and crafted by some skilled sushi/burrito chefs.

The portion size is generous and the flavors are bold and unique. Whether you're a sushi lover or a burrito fanatic, you'll be blown away by the delicious fusion of these two classic dishes. Don't be fooled by the small size of the restaurant, they pack a big punch in terms of taste and quality. Be sure to give them a try next time you're in the area!
