Welcome to my 7th edition of a newsletter that has nothing to do with real estate, but everything to do with the foodie scene in New York City which is just as exciting :).

Gage & Tollner

Amazing new addition to my neighborhood - Gage & Tollner is probably going on my list of top Brooklyn steakhouses. A Brooklyn landmark that was open from 1879 until 2004, and was finally reopened just in the beginning of 2021.

Gage & Tollner is a steak and chops kind of place, with raw bar items too expertly prepared to be regarded as ornamental, but nice to look at nonetheless. Although the ribeye was amazing, my personal favorite was the fried chicken that was marvelously paired with a perky kale/kimchi slaw and springy cornmeal fritters.

For dessert, I would highly recommend ordering the apple pie sundae, beautifully executed by the renowned pastry chef Caroline Schiff.

Interesting fact - a majority of the servers are former Gramercy Tavern veterans, which maybe explains the high level of service.

Jua is from the group behind Atomix and one of their all-time Greatest Hits, Her Name Is Han..

This Korean restaurant’s space falls somewhere between special-occasion Atomix and group-friendly Her Name Is Han, but with food that has something in common with both.

Dinner starts with deep-fried seaweed wrapped around uni and a ton of caviar, and the next eight dishes on the $95 tasting menu, including a bunch of things cooked on the wood-fired grill, are just as memorable. While you can order a la carte, you should come here for the two-hour set menu and share a bottle of natural wine with a date.

Tagmo
Where: 226 Front St, New York, NY 10038 | FIDI

Part Indian restaurant, part retail space, Tagmo is the newest spot to open in the Seaport District downtown.

The menu here includes 13 different small plates like baingan bharta, steamed fish wrapped in banana leaves, and roasted chicken with tomatoes and cashew cream.

Tagmo started as an online shop for small-batch Indian sweets, many of which you can also pick up over the counter at their dessert shop.
