I Sodi
Where: 105 Christopher St, New York, NY 10014 | Greenwich Village

I Sodi's food is straightforward, classic Italian. Dishes so simple you’re confused when they end up tasting this good. Stuff like artichoke salad with only olive oil and parmesan, spaghetti cacio e pepe, and lasagna. Granted, that lasagna is 20 layers or something ridiculous like that, but it’s still just meat lasagna, and still one of the best I've ever had. If the default place you go to in your mind is your future retirement estate in Tuscany - or really anywhere it would be acceptable to live on a diet of pasta alone - you will like I Sodi.

Emily's
Where:  919 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11238 | Clinton Hill

Emily's famous $31 burger with a $5 add-on for bacon is not the cheapest burger out there, but I would certainly have no problem going back and ordering it again and again.

I lost count of how many burgers floated past my table before mine was ready, but I turned my head to stare every time. It is truly a sight to see, with translucent onions and neon-orange sauce glowing under the low lights in all their glory.

Now for the burger - the two patties are cooked to perfection, their juicy flavor still shining through the bold sauce. The small pickles add a nice crunch, while the pretzel bun is surprisingly fluffy and adds to the burger's overall sweetness. It tastes almost caramel-like.

Even though it's not depicted, please do not miss out on adding the bacon (it's a game-changer).

Le Relais Des Moines

Where: 77 Rte de Sainte-Roseline, 83460 Les Arcs, France

It's become a passion of mine to try a new Michelin Star restaurant every month, especially if it involves being in a foreign country. I do try to stick with 1 star to keep it a little more affordable and to have a fair comparison.

Last month, during our family trip to the South of France we ended up
Le Relais Des Moines - a beautifully designed French (obviously :) ) restaurant that is nested in a gorgeous 16th-century building, impeccably kept and designed. The vaulted enterior rooms and therewith sweeping views of the Medieval Village Les Arcs (gorgeous French wine country) add to this remarkable setting.

Sebastien Sanjou, a star chef, prepares fine dishes with fresh local products and has a very reasonable 5-course tasting menu at just 89 euros. The combination of delicious food and excellent service made the experience well worth the travel.

As it happens, for the Summer months we are staying "local" between NY, CT and MA.
If you have a recommendation for a 1 Micheline Star restaurant I have to try, please submit your comment below! Just please don't say "Cote" :)

Recommend a restaurant!
