A Pinch Of Salt

A Pinch Of Salt

Welcome to my 5th edition of a newsletter that has nothing to do with real estate...
Its fall, which means you can go apple and pumpkin picking at the same time :)

My family and I have been going to Averill Farms for the pumpkin patch & apple picking for years.
Only 2 hours from NYC the farm itself is incredible to see, and has a long and continuing history, operating since 1746. Not only will you find apple picking and a pumpkin patch, but they also have mums, maple syrup, honey, eggs, tomatoes, gourds, & squash.

If you're needing some time away from the city with your family or really just anyone wanting to enjoy the Fall weather and changing of colors in the trees, I would wholeheartedly recommend Averill Farms to be your destination.

Averill Farms

Where:  250 Calhoun Street, Washington Depot, CT 06794
Ivan Ramen
Where: 25 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002

Ivan Ramen is far from Cup Noodles. It's an experience that raises the bar on the genre, with whole wheat and rye variations threaded around pork, mushrooms and vegetables.

After opening a series of successful ramen shops in Tokyo, Ivan Orkin could not have picked a better location for his NY flagship. Indie rock beats, designer tees, and murals of manga cutouts come together seamlessly at this Clinton Street spot; and from solo stools along the wall to counter seats facing the kitchen, the snug little space has packed in the crowds since opening in 2014.

Starters like crispy eggplant with tahini and charred garlic or cold sesame noodles with roasted peppers showcase the chef's preference for flair and flavor. Ordering ramen is non-negotiable. Friendly servers will push the house favorite—chicken paitan with shio kombu and egg yolk, but the classic tonkotsu with shoyu-glazed chashu and black garlic oil is a bolder delight.

Lamia's Fish Market
Where: 47 Avenue B, New York, NY 10009

The East Village is where you'll find the underwater world of Atlantis - and it's called Lamia's Fish Market, a stunning marvel boasting a glittering interior design applauded in The New York Times & Elle Magazine for its incredible brunch menu & breathtaking style.

Grab your $55 pulse (a $80 value) for an enchanting Bottomless Brunch for Two that includes 2 Entrees and 90 Minutes of Bottomless Mermaid Sangrias, Pearinis, Mimosas, Mango Mimosas, Bellinis & White Sangrias. You can expect under-the-sea vibes that takes you on a bewildering journey, as Restaurateur Lamia Funti (Le Souk) has crafted a menu set to dazzle your palate - think Truffle Flatbread, Chicken & Waffles, or the blissful Sea Shakshuka dotted with shrimp, clams, octopus, eggs, and feta cheese.

While you dine, admire the unique scene in the 6 separate rooms, each with its own oceanic theme - think 30-foot skylights, glittering barnacles, a sparkling sea goddess, salvaged boat parts, and more - it's immersive & breathtaking.
